Barmy Balloons - Kid's Party Game
By Julie Hume
My son and I invented a new party game. Actually it came about because I was trying to keep him amused. His sister is away for a couple of weeks and though he would poke his own eyes out rather than admit it, he is started to miss her. We decided to blow up a load of balloons. It took a while but eventually the whole floor was a mass of bouncing coloured globes and he was wading through them giggling. As a joke I told him he'd have to get them all out of the living room before I let the (balloon-mad) dog in and she burst them all. He started shuffling through the balloons, trying to get as many as possible. He put the knot end of two of the long variety in his mouth, managed two round balloons under each arm and was working on a third when the balloons escaped from his mouth. We got them back in and then the arm balloons popped out of place. I was sticking balloons up his t-shirt and between his legs and he was trying to keep as many as he could while waddling to the bedroom. It was hysterical and we were both helpless with laughing at our silly game. Still, I though it might make a funny diversion at the next kid's party. All I need now is a good name for the game. Barmy Balloons? Balloon Roller Derby? |

I don't have a great name for your game, but I do know that you and your son have created a wonderful memory that will last throughout both lifetimes Well done
Funny story Julie. What is "Barmy"?
CONTRIBUTOR'S REPLY
Thank you, June. I know the memory will make me smile for years. I hope it is something he will remember. :) James, Barmy means crazy, wacky... a little bit nuts. :)
Being silly and a little barmy with our children is very healthy for all, Julie. What a way to release stress and tension. Thank you for sharing. Best wishes. Frederick
